Do This, Not That: RSVPs

February 1, 2014 By Tiffany Nielsen 2 Comments

RSVPs. Anyone who is hosting an event needs them. Yet, it’s unreal how hard they often are to come by. While some guests are prompt to respond, others are not. It is helpful if we all remember to RSVP, and apologize when we forget.

Recently, I was invited to a bridal shower and I forgot to RSVP. UGH! I did give a verbal  “yes” to the bride, but I completely forgot to call her hostess. “YIKES!” says the Etiquette Lady.

I begged for her forgiveness and then spoiled the bride with gifts from her registry. I’ve since been redeemed.

Remember to always RSVP.

Thank You, this is my pet pieve.
    Also,
Don’t neglect to RSVP and show up anyway.
“Do” RSVP and be a no show. Especially if you are more than one person such as an “entire family”.
Please consider that the hostess has included your family in the meal count at an expence to her. and has also arranged seating at the dinner table or tables to accommodate you or your family.
Be conciderate if it is a sit down dinner and you bring an extra unannounced guest or guests.
If it is a back yard BBQ it is one thing. If it is a sit down dinner it is another.
    GRRR!
Guests are fine but please let the hostess know so she is prepared and not resetting the dinner table and rearranging the seating to accommodate additional guests..this creates unexpected stress on the hostess. She could be out visiting with guests instead of resetting the dinner table.

      Mom,

Your expertise in party planning just landed you a spot in my new book! If you don’t mind, I’m going to quote your advice; you hit the nail on the head regarding RSVP’s!!!!

You’ve taught me so much about event planning, and because of you, I’ve launched an etiquette party company that is growing rapidly and making many parents very happy!!

      I love you!
